Last night, we took the boys to the annual Fire Prevention Parade in downtown Christiansburg. We wanted to go last year, but both boys were sick. They got to see so many fire trucks and ambulances! There were some antique fire trucks in the parade, plus a couple of dalmatian mascots and even Smokey the Bear! We were really surprised at how many vehicles were in the parade - probably at least 50 from all over the area.
Before the parade started, a policeman let a few boys sit in his patrol car. Brady got to sit in the car for a while but Ian got out as quickly as he got in.
Ian was a little apprehensive about the parade because he didn't quite know what to expect.
Here's a picture of the four of us enjoying the parade. Eventually, the boys waved to all the trucks as they passed.
It was interesting to look back and see the progression of Ian's pictures. Here he is right at the beginning of the parade, when the color guard was marching.
He clapped when the first fire truck appeared.
After a few trucks came by, things started to get very loud so he covered up one ear. (He had to keep one hand free so he could wave at the trucks!)
By the end of the parade, this is what he looked like!
Here's a video of him holding one ear and waving to the trucks with the other hand:
This morning, when Jeremy asked him about the parade, he said he enjoyed seeing the fire trucks but they were "very noisy"!
