Mini-Me

It has been really interesting to see the similarities between old pictures of me and pictures of Leah at the same age. This is a picture of my grandfather holding me when I was about a week old:

Leah at 9 1/2 weeks. She's starting to look a little more like Jeremy but she definitely has my chubby cheeks and double chin!

Recently seen and heard around our house

1. A dalmatian on Leah's shoulder. Once when Leah was crying, Ian put the puppy on her and said, "She needs a friend." Ever since, Ian puts the puppy with Leah when she's in her swing.

2. The nuts, bolts, and screws from the boys' tool bench stuck in the sofa. Ian informed me that these were the headlights for their race car. He got up on the sofa and proceeded to drive away, complete with sound effects.

3. Several crayons ground into the hardwood floor. I didn't get a picture of this, but it sure was a big mess. It took the steam cleaner to get all of it up.

4. A detective in training. While I was washing the breakfast dishes this morning, I overheard this dialogue from the living room.

Ian: I smell a poopy. Is it you?
Brady: Umm... (pause)... yep.

Little chefs

It makes me so happy that the boys enjoy being in the kitchen. They love to watch me cook (Ian even likes to watch me wash the dishes!) and they help out as much as they can. In one of their books, the main character has a "Baking Day" with his mother, so of course Brady and Ian like it when I tell them we get to have a Baking Day. When they hear this news, they'll rush to pull their stepstools up to the counter.

One morning last week, we made muffins. The boys helped by putting the liners in the muffin tins...

They're always so proud of the finished product!

While Ian was eating his muffin for breakfast, he said, "Mommy, what kind of muffin is this?" I told him it was a pumpkin muffin. A couple of minutes later, he looked down at his empty plate and said, "It's a gone muffin."

Leah's 2-month checkup

Leah's last checkup was on 3/4. She had grown quite a bit since her 1-month checkup! She weighed in at 11 lbs 12 oz (56th percentile) and was 24 inches long (87th percentile). She had to get 3 shots, which made her feel pretty lousy for about a day and a half. Thankfully, her sweet smile came back soon.

We introduced Leah to the swing about 2 weeks ago, and she absolutely loves it. She loves it so much that I almost have to pry her away from the swing in order to feed her. She likes to watch Ian and Brady playing, then she'll drift off to sleep.

The boys can't get enough of their sister! They ask to hold her very often, and they'll give her kisses, nuzzles, and pats whenever they get a chance. They continue to "read" her stories and sing to her to make her smile.

Cooped up!

We've been cooped up for most of the winter due to the cold and the snow. The boys always make the most of it, though.

Brady and Ian watched some of the Winter Olympics with Jeremy, since he is a big fan. The boys enjoyed the snowboarding and ski jumping. They were really amazed by what the athletes could do and would say, "Whoa!" when they would see a big jump.

Jeremy taught them all about the medals and showed them what to do when we hear the national anthem:

One morning I saw Brady going through the house like this and he told me he was skiing. Pretty creative! If you look closely you will see that he actually has "skis" under his feet in addition to the poles he's holding.

They have really enjoyed building big Lego towers with Jeremy. This is their biggest creation to date.
One morning Ian and Brady got cozy on the couch with their Elmo toys and said they were reading to their babies.

Yesterday morning, they told me they were sleeping at a hotel!

We're planning to get out this weekend and enjoy the nice weather that's coming our way! Hurry up, Spring!

Sweet baby girl

We are so in love with Leah! She is growing and changing so quickly. She is an excellent sleeper and for the last several days has slept between 7 and 9 hours each night. Leah likes to be in her bouncy seat during the day and has started to enjoy the swing as well.

About a week ago, she started to smile for us! She is especially full of smiles in the mornings. Tomorrow she will be 2 months old and will go to the pediatrician for her 2-month checkup.
