Sick boys

The boys have now been sick 3 times in 5 weeks. First they had a cold, then 2 weeks later they had a stomach bug, and this week they were sick again. Both boys came down with a fever on Sunday evening. Ian was better by Monday morning but Brady was still sick. Brady got worse and worse throughout the day and we couldn't bring down his fever. That evening we took him to the doctor and his fever had climbed to 104.7. The doctor checked him out and couldn't find anything that was causing the fever, so we had to go to the hospital lab to get some blood drawn. Brady was pretty upset by the needle but he was a trooper. They checked for strep and also checked his blood count and everything was OK, so the doctor determined that it was just a virus. He was sick all day Tuesday and finally turned the corner that evening. It was good to see the little mischievous gleam return to his eyes. Hopefully we won't have any more sickness for a while!

Unfortunately, we had to miss the parade that we had been excited about getting to see. The town of Christiansburg does an annual parade for Fire Prevention Week and we were looking forward to taking the boys to see the fire trucks, ambulances, etc. They love seeing "special" vehicles like buses and cement trucks so they would have really enjoyed the parade. Hopefully we'll get to go next year!

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the fire department happened to be at Nana's school on Wednesday and Nana was able to get a couple of extra fire hats for the boys. The hats say "Christiansburg Fire Dept. Junior Fire Chief". They looked so cute in their hats but Ian broke his within about 2 minutes so these are the only pictures I was able to get!

We plan on going to the annual Pumpkin Festival at Sinkland Farms this weekend so there should be plenty of pictures soon!
