Pumpkin Farm, Part 1 - The animals

We took the boys to the annual Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival on Saturday. Brady and Ian had fun last year, but this year they were able to do so much more and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. As soon as we got there, Ian spotted the miniature ponies. He giggled when he saw the ponies giving carriage rides to other families, and he wanted a ride too. He even showed us the pony he wanted to ride!

I told Jeremy that we need to invest in a miniature pony because the ride was a bit of a ripoff - $8 for an adult and child, but we got charged $11 because we had two kids. That wouldn't be a bad deal if the ride lasted longer, but the pony only did one lap, lasting about a minute. It was worth it to hear Ian's reaction though. Unfortunately, he cried when he had to get out of the carriage.

Here's a clip of their ride:

Next, we went to the petting zoo and the boys were excited to get to see so many animals. Brady only wanted to look from a distance but Ian petted quite a few of the animals.

Ian really liked petting this horse. She was about twice the size of the other horses. The sign is a little hard to read but it says she is a Belgian Draft Horse and weighs about 2259 lbs.
Next to the petting zoo, there was a giant pumpkin with a sign that said to guess the weight. I never saw the actual weight but the boys had a blast trying to push the pumpkin.

There was another area with several horses and ponies for the kids to ride. These rides were more reasonable ($3 for a few minutes) but the lines were pretty long. At first Ian was patient...
...but after a few minutes he cried when he couldn't ride the horses. Finally the boys got a turn. Brady rode this pony:

Ian had a larger horse: He looks like a pro!
He waved to us as he passed by.

Of course, he cried when he had to get down from the horse!
