We had a fun Fourth! I didn't get many pictures but we had a nice evening. We are fortunate to live in a neighborhood where the fireworks can be seen very well from our backyard. Since the fireworks show was well past the boys' normal bedtime, we were able to give baths and have them in their pajamas before the fireworks started.
We had a yummy meal at our house with Nana and Granddad - burgers and hot dogs on the grill with all kinds of good side dishes. For dessert we had a fruit pizza shaped like a flag. The boys were excited to eat it and probably would have eaten it until they had stomachaches if we hadn't cut them off at two helpings.
While waiting for the fireworks, the boys got to hold their first sparklers.
We were a little bit worried about how Ian would react to the fireworks. He's very sensitive to loud noises like thunder. He'll cover his ears and say the noises "scare Ian's ears". It was probably a good thing that several families in the neighborhood were shooting off fireworks before it got dark. Ian was scared at first but soon realized that the noises were a small price to pay for the pretty colors in the sky. This was a good warm-up to the big show.
Brady and Ian enjoyed the fireworks, although they got a little bored after a few minutes. They were pretty cranky the next day after going to bed so late, but they were all straightened out by Sunday evening.
